A fabulous ivory netsuke carved from a solid piece of ivory. The ivory netsuke measures 1 3/4 inches tall from the top to the bottom and weighs a solid 19.2 grams. The netsuke is of an artist painting a mask fine facial features. The ivory displays a warm patina, and a very pronounced cross hatched grain. All of our ivory was imported before the trade ban of 1989. This gives our ivory the classification of "pre-ban ivory" or legal trading ivory which wasn't imported after the international ban.
