This beautiful sculpture was carved from Large adult Hippo' tooth ivory, it is depicting five large sailing ships and two whales. The scrimshaw carving is very detailed with many small intricate lines. This carving has been signed by the artist under the scrimshaw picture. The length of the tusk is 11 inches with a width of 48mm o almost 2 iches. The hippo's tooth weighs a solid 234.6 grams. This is the only one in my possession and is irreplaceable.
