This beautiful sculpture was carved from elephant tusk ivory, the left page contains an intricate scenic portrait of a fisherman in a calm running river. The other page has a Chinese poem inscribed by the artist. The cross graining found only on elephant ivory is highly visible on this piece. This scrimshaw carving is very detailed with many small intricate lines and looks like a open book. It has been signed by the artist on the back. The book is 2 1/2 inches wide and 3 7/8 inches tall, weighing 56.3 grams. This piece comes with a plastic stand.
